This was the first time Hannah had been to New Zealand (Joe and been once before) and this was just a brief stop-over. The intention was to look for a spot for their wedding and they decided that while they were at it they should do an engagement shoot as well! Hannah & Joe are from Sydney and without having been to our shores before, a little help from Mr Google and checking out a few images of Hawke’s Bay, they threw caution to the wind and decided on here.
For their shoot I decided on a spot that was quintessential New Zealand. We as kiwi’s love the beach and although Australian’s do too these guys hadn’t seen any of ours. So after collecting them we took a wee drive out to Waimarama Beach. I love the fact that couples put so much trust in me! I have to laugh at it sometimes actually! These guys didn’t know me but willingly jumped into the car with a stranger and were totally excited about it!!! I was excited as well and as we chatted our way through our trip we got to know each other a bit so by the time we’d reached our destination we were all laughing.
Engagement sessions are awesome for the fact that they are WAY more relaxed than a wedding day – none of these ghastly timelines that means sessions are cut down to pockets of minutes and no rushing to be somewhere else. Hannah and Joe were so much fun and it was a real pleasure to introduce them to our little slice of paradise that is Hawke’s Bay.
