Kim & Paul – Maternity Shoot

May 8th, 2012

Yesterday was a brilliant autumn day here in Hawkes Bay! On a still sunny day at this time of year the colours are just so vibrant and the late afternoon light is gorgeous! So it was the perfect opportunity to head out and take some photographs of Kim and Paul. Its a huge turning point in anyones life – not only sharing the journey of pregnacy but also taking on the responsibility of new life! These guys were so chilled and relaxed! We had such a great time!

Kim and Paul, thank you for the privilege of sharing this moment with you and letting me document it for you both xx

Yesterday was a pretty exciting day for me – I had my first wedding featured on Style Me Pretty and now I get to share the gorgeousness with you! I’ve probably gone a little overboard with the number of images in this post but with all the yummy details and Belinda and Gareth being such a cute couple, I just couldn’t help myself! Enjoy xx

Lisa & Colin MacPhee – Wedding

April 4th, 2012

This was my second to last wedding of the season, and I must admit I get a little bit sad when wedding season draws to a close each year. I have such a wonderful time during the summer months meeting new people, making new friends and getting to share in such beautiful and intimate moments – I feel so privileged to be able to do what I do and document these precious memories. Maybe its the fact that the end of daylight savings hits at the same time and I can feel winter fast approaching … still, it was a beautiful wedding full of friends, family and sunshine along with some great Hawkes Bay wine and fabulous fare by Dish Catering at Church Road Winery.

Lisa and Colin were married in a beautiful ceremony at St Mary’s, Taradale with friends and family travelling from as far as Colin’s native Scotland to be with them while they made their vows. The afternoon was spent in the sun at Church Road Winery while the chef barbequed delicious local seafood to give the visitors a true taste of New Zealand. It was a truely stunning day!

Lisa and Colin, thank you for letting me share such a fabulous day with you both – I wish you all the happiness in the world! xx

Lisa & Colin – Engagement

March 29th, 2012

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I LOVE what I do! Not just the photography but getting to know new people and sharing in the excitement of their engagement and up-coming weddings! and an engagement session is a great way to get to know my couples just that little bit better. I walk away from these sessions feeling like I’ve made life long friends!

When Lisa and Colin first booked me for their wedding at the end of March Lisa mentioned that Colin was a little shy in front of the camera and to just be weary come the big day. So I suggested an engagement session knowing that most of the time people become so comfortable in front of the camera at these sessions that when the wedding day arrives its like the camera’s not even there. These sessions are also about having fun and we had A LOT of fun with this one. I asked Lisa what her favourite things were and her first respose was her Mini – it was a new purchase and she just adored it! and the second, since Colin is Scottish was ‘a few drinks’. So I devised a plan that involved a hot little car and a cool little bar. I’ll let you see for yourself the fun we had – and keep an eye out for the wedding on the blog in the next week.

Nicola & Dave Blackmore – Wedding

March 15th, 2012

Most of my couples I meet once or twice before the wedding day becuase they’re based overseas or in a different part of New Zealand to where I am, but we cultivate a relationship through emails, via skype or telephone converstations so that when I do meet them for the first time its like I’ve known them all my life. They’re like best friends – we can sit and chat over a coffee with no uncomfortable silences or awkward moments …

Nicola and Dave I had meet twice before their wedding but Nicola and I had exchanged many emails and I knew she as into aesthetics (a girl after my own heart!) and that the details of her day would be perfect! They’d had a few set backs leading up to the day and Nicola was a little concerned about the weather but they’d got everything in place and I am under no illusion that they chosen the perfect place for ‘them’! The ceremony was an intimate affair held at Centennial Gardens with the reception at the stately Hawkes Bay Club. The whole day was perfection – from Nicola’s gorgeous wedding dress to the place settings on the tables, from the venue to the happy and relaxed atmosphere that surrounded them as their made their entrance into the Club. Nicola and Dave, thank you for letting me capture and be part of such a wonderful day! All the best for the future xx
