Fiona & Brent – Wedding

June 14th, 2013

Fiona and Brent are self confessed hippies. They’re outdoorsy people and love nature and their wedding at Taruna was just so perfectly them!

Their family and friends joined them to share in their nuptual on a fabulous Hawke’s Bay day in February at Taruna in Havelock North. They chose to have an afternoon tea so everyone could enjoy the beautiful gardens and homstead set into the lower hills of Te Mata Peak while the sun shone and cut their cake (which by-the-way, a couple of Fiona’s bridesmaids baked!) before we left to shoot the bridal photos. Because of Fiona and Brent’s affinity with nature we chose to head out towards the Tuki Tuki Valley and picnic in amongst vines and beautiful trees before heading back to their reception.

Fiona and Brent it was an honor to be able to share your day and see you affirm your love for each other in such and idyllic surrounding. I wish all the best for your life together. xx

Heidi & Ed – Engaged

June 7th, 2013

I love engagement sessions for a number of reasons a. you get to spend a bit of time with your couple and get to know them without the pressures of the wedding day; b. its a great way for your couple to relax and start to feel comfortable in front on the camera; and c. they get to feel like at that moment its the beginning of something so special, that is all about just the two of them, and that to me is super important! So to me an engagement session is all about having some fun, getting some beautiful images of my couple but also about celebrating the love! Celebrating the love that got them to this point in their lives that they are so ready to commit their entire futures to each other and knowing that that love is what it going to carry them through thick and thin. So I say start celebrating the journey early!

And today I have for you Heidi and Ed – these guys are the most adorable couple! We did their e-session back in December before the Hawke’s Bay heat scorched the landscape. They live and work in Wellington so just aren’t used to too much sun, but choose to wed in Hawke’s Bay because of the bounty the sun brings – great food and wine, oh, and lets not forget the fabulous weather! So we started the session out along the river behind John’s House (a very cool John Scott house now used for accommodation). The walkway and grass along the river are just amazing on a beautiful Hawke’s Bay afternoon and we even managed to spot a little family of ducklings! We then carried on to Craggy Range Winery where Heidi and Ed married in March (the wedding will be coming to the blog shortly!), and enjoyed shooting in the vines then a wee glass of Craggy Range Sav on the terrace – a superb way to end an engagement session!

Leanna & Cole – Wedding

May 31st, 2013

Leanna and Cole were married on a glorious summers day here in Hawke’s Bay. It was the kind of heat that you love to hate. But by the time it came to the bridal portraits it had cooled a little and the shade of the huge old trees up Te Mata Peak was a blessing – no-one wants to melt on their wedding day!

I had such a great time with Leanna, Cole and the rest of their bridal party. Everyone was there to have fun and share in the celebration and celebrate they did! Thanks guys for making me feel at home. I hope you’re honeymoon in Hawaii this month was fabulous and all the best for a long and spectacular life together! xx

Arna & Mark – Wedding

May 24th, 2013

Arna and Mark’s day was one of those fabulous days that was filled with love and laughter – lots of laughter!

Because Arna was in the depths of finishing off her thesis Mark did most of the organising – photographer, make-up artist, florist, you get the picture, but it just went to show how much both Arna and Mark love and trust each other, and from the first time I met them (over a coffee and donut) we just clicked!

It was a magical day – Arna and Mark thank you for allowing me to share in the love! You’re both truely inspirational! xx

Jess & Andrew – Wedding

April 24th, 2013

Hawke’s Bay has had the most amazing weather this summer (ok, so maybe a little on the dry side) but you couldn’t fault the golden grass or the light that we’ve had – its all made for divine picturesque spaces!

Jess and Andrew were married on 19 January this year at the Hereworth Chapel. Their reception was held up at the stunning Highcliff Retreat set amongst the craggy range that is Te Mata Peak. The marquee was set up on the lawn with the sprawling view of Hawke’s Bay in front. A perfect position to watch the sun set as the speeches started and the lights came on across the cities as dinner was being served – you couldn’t have asked for a more idyllic setting!

It was a truely fabulous day spent with a group of amazing and super fun people! Thank you guys for a superb day! I wish you all the best for your future together. xx
